âš  Fraud Alert: Swiping Cards After EMV Declines

We want to remind everyone about an important credit card security policy to protect our business from fraud and chargebacks.

Key Risk:
If a chip (EMV) card fails to read and we process the transaction by swiping the magnetic stripe instead, we are fully liable for any fraudulent transactions. Criminals often exploit this by tampering with or using counterfeit chip cards that fail EMV reads but still swipe successfully.

What To Do:

  1. Do NOT swipe the card if the chip fails.

  2. Ask the customer for another form of payment (chip card, contactless, or cash).

  3. Only process EMV cards using the chip reader or contactless tap.

Following this policy will protect our business from costly chargebacks and fraud losses.

Thank you for helping keep our transactions secure.
